In short: this place is absolutely gorgeous, I love it! ❤️ I visited on December 6, 2025. We parked near the Leshan Temple and started walking along a path next to the temple's restrooms (3:36 PM). The path was mostly uphill stairs, taking about 55 minutes (4:28 PM) to reach the top observation deck (there's a rest stop for water). We took photos, enjoyed the scenery, and witnessed a stunning sunset. The expansive views were incredibly soothing, making it a very friendly viewpoint in the suburbs. Apparently, on clear days you can even see Taipei! If you stay until evening, there's also the million-dollar night view (like a miniature version of Hakodate's night view). Afterwards, it's about a 35-minute walk down the industrial road, which is less strenuous on the knees than the stairs. A truly wonderful trip! (The old lady's oven-baked bread shop I passed on the way down the mountain was closed.) Note: You can actually drive directly to the viewing platform, but there's not enough space to park several cars. I recommend taking the hiking trail if you visit during the day. Although there aren't many scenic views along the way (there's a pavilion), you can catch glimpses of distant mountain peaks from time to time, which are quite beautiful in the sunset. The trail is easy and suitable for beginners.

It's a great trail, and you can complete the last loop perfectly. The views are also beautiful. It's just a pity the visibility wasn't good today; the tung trees are in full bloom right now.

Navigate to the century-old Leshan Temple for free parking and restroom facilities. Next to it is a hiking trail with gentle slopes and steps. The trail leads to a viewing platform where you can overlook the beautiful scenery of Hsinchu on a clear day. Opposite the pavilion is the 705-meter-high Dashanbei Mountain Third Triangle Point, a popular photo spot. You can descend the mountain via the cherry blossom trail or the paved route back to Leshan Temple, which takes about two hours. It is even more beautiful when the tung blossoms are in full bloom.

Sources and ranking basis
