Smangus - God’s tribe !! It took us almost 4 hours from Taiwan to Smangus. Beware of there were traffic regulations of these winding roads into the tribe. There were coop in the main parking lot to serve breakfast / lunch and dinner . There was a small convenience store next to the coop . Many log cabins for accommodations. I love this beautiful historical tribe: many beautiful hiking trails. Clean bathrooms available for this 5 K route. The attitude was around 1600 meter. It did not get chilly just comfortable . The most famous hiking trails to the red wood area was flat and manageable. Alone the trail, the vegetation changed with so much to appreciate . A very enjoyable place to visit .

The serene environment of the village offers a peaceful retreat, perfect for relaxation. The indigenous cuisine, seasoned with the fragrant Maqaw spice, is a true highlight. The trails are relatively easy, making it an ideal destination for a leisurely getaway.

Beautiful small village. The villagers are friendly, even the children. You can booked a homestay so you can watch the sunrise over the beautiful mountains. Gaze the stars at night time. Stroll around the village or take a hike heading to old giant trees. Would love to visit again soon during the sakura blooming season.

Beautiful indigenous village with cherry blossoms, bamboo groves and giant trees! Definitely worth visiting, esp during cherry blossom season, but the roads leading to the place are narrow and some not well paved! A long and tough driving journey!
