For those who enjoy a couple of drinks while traveling to Nangan, Matsu, the Matsu Distillery is a must-see attraction. Established in 1956, the distillery was originally named Zhongxing Distillery, using a residential building in Fuxing Village for brewing. In 1960, it expanded to its current location and was renamed Matsu Distillery. If you happen to arrive during the distillation process, you'll be greeted by the incredibly fragrant aroma of sorghum. The distillery has a sales area and an exhibition area. The exhibition displays various uniquely shaped and collectible bottles, and provides demonstrations of the traditional brewing process, including soaking, distillation, rice soaking, aging, clarification, heating, and bottling. A video showcasing the distillation process is also shown in the information room. Of course, the most important thing is to taste the delicious liquor produced by the Matsu Distillery! >>

Huaxin Group Travel is offering a discounted 3-day winter tour to Matsu, which I'm sharing for those interested. The itinerary is rather rushed, feeling similar to seeing statues in a park. I personally aren't very interested in static tours. Because the winter tour is cheap, and I'd never been to Matsu before, I decided to take the trip. Overall, it wasn't particularly good or bad; the main appeal was the novelty. The distillery visit involved watching a video presentation, but I fell asleep and didn't watch it all. I only had a small sip of the spirits. A brief record of my visit. 2026/02/08
