李萬居故居(李萬居精神啟蒙館)

The former residence of Mr. Li Wanju (Spiritual Enlightenment Hall) is located at No. 188, Fuxing Road, Wubei Village, Kouhu Township, Yunlin County, 653, Taiwan (Opening hours: Monday to Friday 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, closed on Saturdays and Sundays). Because the former residence is located in an alley, vehicles (cars/motorcycles) can only be parked at the Yiwu Tiaotian Temple or in the open space across the street (parking should not obstruct local residents' access). The former residence is generally very clean and tidy (it is regularly cleaned and maintained). The old house has a detailed introduction (on the life and deeds of Li Wanju, a pioneer of Taiwanese democracy). There are washbasins and toilets available. Next to the former residence... The alley leads to the (Centennial Banyan Tree). The residents here are very kind and hospitable (almost everyone will greet visitors). You can leisurely enjoy the beauty of this simple town and take many beautiful photos. There are also many attractions nearby to visit (Centennial Banyan Tree/Yaokoudian Ancient Well/Yiwu Lifestyle Museum (but it seems they are all closed), Little Swift Shop/Poet's House/Grandma's Directions Shop/Yiwu Tiaotian Temple (remember to pay your respects while you're there). There is also a lotus ecological pond behind the activity center opposite Tiaotian Temple, and you can also look for the 13 iron flower windows scattered in the alley). If you are passing through Kouhu Township, Yunlin County, you might as well take a walk and have a look. **The Former Residence of Mr. Li Wanju (Spiritual Enlightenment Hall) has a stamp with Mr. Li Wanju's portrait that you can collect. If you like collecting stamps, remember to bring a blank sheet of paper or a blank notebook, as they do not provide stamp paper here.**

The "Story Iron Flower Window" project has been the first to illuminate the town's cultural landscape revitalization plan. In addition, ten whimsical human-shaped swifts in various poses have been installed in the Wubei community. Following this, improvements to the village temple courtyard shops and the revitalization of the village's landmark water tower will be completed successively, giving the old town a new lease on life! Each wrought iron window is unique and distinctive, perfect for leisurely strolling and taking photos. Unfortunately, the former residence of Mr. Li Wanju was closed during my visit (closed on weekends), so I could only take photos from the outside.

This is a rural village. What's remarkable is that, despite being an impoverished village founded by early settlers, it was able to nurture a virtuous and learned man who spoke for the people: Li Wanju. He was an early member of the provincial assembly, one of the so-called "Five Tigers" of the assembly, known for daring to challenge the authority of the Chiang Kai-shek era. The village was later hailed as the first democratic village. (Shirencuo) and Mr. Li Wanju are two of the attractions created during the redevelopment of Wubei Village in Wubei Village. (Shirencuo) is one of the scenic spots featuring iron-flower windows in the newly created vernacular poems and prose of the Chen Ren, Dun Ren, and Chen Shan school. Everyone is welcome to visit our Yiwu Wubei Village on their days off. All admission is free and open to the public. I am a dialysis patient and am not home on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. I am home on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.
